Louie Albright

Louie is the Emergency and Hazmat Coordinator for the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) He has been with ITD for 38 years mostly in the maintenance side of ITD. He has also been a volunteer firefighter for more than 30 years and a member of the State of Idaho Hazardous Materials Team for 15 years and is a State hazmat and firefighter instructor.

 

 

Bonnie Anderson

Bonnie Anderson has been at the Idaho DOE Site for 23 years, 13 of those years as a Radiological Control Technician (Bargaining Unit). She is currently the VPP Lead for CH2M-WG Idaho LLC as well as the Region X VPPPA Chairperson. She has been involved in Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) since 1996 when the program started at the then INEL. She served as Unit Employee Safety Team chairperson for 4 years, Company Employee Safety Team Co-Chairperson for 2 years, and the Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP)Company Employee Safety Team Executive Advisor. She is actively involved in Community Outreach and the Human Performance implementation at the Idaho DOE Site. She is an active member of the NVPPPA Mentoring sub-team. She has been recognized by DOE for her Outstanding Performance and Leadership as well as by OSHA being named the 2006 Region X Special Government Employee (SGE) of the Year. Bonnie has also been recognized nationally for her Safety and Health outreach. She is Chairperson for the local chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America and a member of the Employer Support of Guard and Reserve Committee (ESGR). She and her husband, Dallas, have 6 married children and 26 grandchildren.

 

 

Bill Bankhead

Compliance Assistance Specialist (CAS)
OSHA Boise Area Office

Bill has been the Compliance Assistance Specialist (CAS) in the OSHA Boise Area Office since July 2002. Working cooperatively with the Idaho Associated General Contractors, the Associated Builders and Contractors, and local chapters of the Building Contractors Association, Bill has conducted numerous training sessions and outreach events in residential fall protection and hazard recognition for the construction industry. He has worked closely with URS Washington Division and Ansley Incorporated to establish and implement the Safety Fest of the Great Northwest training programs in Boise and Post Falls with future venues scheduled for Pocatello and Twin Falls, Idaho. The American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF) recognized Bill, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), and Connecting Idaho Partners for their collective efforts in providing training in Work Zone Safety for ITD and road construction employees. Bill has also conducted Voluntary Protection Program audits at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and the Bangor Washington Submarine Base, as well as in the phosphate industry. Prior to becoming the CAS, he served as an OSHA Compliance Safety and Health Officer for six years. During this time, he conducted hundreds of safety and health inspections in the areas of construction, general industry, and logging across the state of Idaho. Before joining OSHA, Bill served 14 years on active duty in the U.S. Army as an Armor Officer and was stationed at installations across the continental United States and completed two three-year tours in Germany. In 1993, he left active duty and joined the Idaho Army National Guard. In June 2007, Bill returned from a voluntary 16-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While there, he worked with ambassadors and defense attachés from five countries, several non-government agencies, numerous coalition senior military officers and civil servants, and high-ranking Afghan government officials in order to establish and run Afghanistan’s first Army War College for senior Afghan officers. Bill is a Brigadier General and has over 31 years of commissioned service in the US Army. Bill has a BA from Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia and a MA in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

David Boyce is the Industrial Hygienist/Health and Safety officer for the INL Fire Department.  He received his Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, emphasizing Environmental Health & Safety from the University of Idaho and his Bachelors of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Environmental / Occupational Health & Safety.  He has worked in safety over the past 25 years in the following fields: transportation, emergency services, security, heavy highway construction, mining, utility work, air quality, nuclear operations, and facility services.

Bill Bremer

Far too many employees get hurt in the workplace and “that obviously shouldn’t happen,” Bill says. And that’s what got him working in the insurance industry with expertise in loss prevention. Understanding that some industries pose more of a risk than others, “the human behavior variant to safety is what’s intriguing,” he says. He also likes the fact that no two clients are alike. Bill’s department works with risk management services across all industry lines; under OSHA, MSHA DEQ, EPA, DOT and JCAHO regulatory standards.

Bill and his wife of more than 30 years (she's also in the insurance industry) have one son, who is just starting his law enforcement career with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agency. For fun outside work, Bill enjoys reading science topics, spending time with his wife and son (especially on the coast), and teaching kids Judo.

Rick is the Division Safety Training Director for URS Washington Division in Boise, Idaho. He holds an A.A.S. in Occupational Safety and Health from Trinidad State Junior College. Mr. Callor has been a Safety and Health Professional for the past 33 years in Mining, Construction and the Environmental Restoration Businesses. He obtained the Safety Trained Supervisor in Construction in 1999 and has since obtained his CSP Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Mr. Callor is also an authorized Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Instructor and an Instructor Trainer in all aspects of mining with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). Mr. Callor was elected as President of the Board of Directors of The Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologists (CCHEST) for 2009 after serving on the Board for 6 years. Steve has worked in the heavy civil and highway construction industry for the last 14 years. Steve teaches OSHA 10 Hour Construction, First Aid/CPR, Forklift & Aerial Lift classes on a regular basis. Bruce Drewes
Manager, Idaho T2 Center

Bruce Drewes is the Training and Research Manager for the Idaho Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) also called the Idaho Technology Transfer Center or T2 Center, which provides training and technical support to the 286 Local Highway Jurisdictions in Idaho. He came to this position from the Idaho Transportation Department in 2000. Bruce is currently certified to teach ATSSA Flagging, Traffic Control Technician courses, FHWA’s Traffic Safety Review, Road Safety Fundamentals and Road Safety Audits. In this position, Bruce delivers about 40 classes a year in the field of work zone traffic control, math, survey, Retroreflective and other courses.

Trey Mink is a Technical Training Specialist with the Idaho Transportation Department.  He has 12 years of construction experience, including highway & bridge construction, general industry, and residential construction.  Born and raised in Southern Idaho, Trey has an agricultural background and is experienced in the operation of farm and heavy equipment.

Bret “Duke” Moscon

Duke (as he is known by family and friends) attended Utah State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene in 1989, working in the Environmental Remediation field for 2 years before returning to Utah State for a Master of Science degree in Toxicology, March 1994.  Upon graduation he was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy that same month and spent the next 9 years as a Medical Service Corps Officer (Industrial Hygiene Sub-specialty).  After his active duty time in the Navy he spent 2 years as the Deputy Manager for the 22 member Industrial Hygiene Department at the Nevada Test Site until coming to the Idaho Cleanup Project (Dept of Energy) July of  2005 where he now serves as the Industrial Hygiene Lead for CWI in the Safety and Health Directorate.   Duke is responsible for ensuring that the Industrial Hygiene program is consistently and correctly implemented throughout the company.  He is also the technical lead for programmatic interpretations and overall IH SME.   Duke maintains board certification in the comprehensive practice of Industrial Hygiene.

 

 

Patrick Nies

I have worked in the construction and maintenance fields throughout my 34 year career of federal service. During this time, I've worked for seven different agencies throughout the west and on the east coast with 12 years in and around the NYC area. I have worked in and/or supervised the majority of the various construction and maintenance trades. After many years as a field supervisor, I eventually moved into project development and management of multi-million dollar federal construction projects. The project management included the collateral duty of safety enforcement on the various projects. I eventually became a department head and a construction project administrator at a federal facility in NYC. In 1999, I transferred to OSHA as a senior Compliance Officer and spent 5 years working in the Parsippany Area Office in New Jersey.  I transferred to the Boise Area Office in 2004 as a senior Compliance Officer. In the 10 years I have been with OSHA, I have completed hundreds of inspections with an emphasis on construction safety. My specialties/areas of expertise are excavations, steel erection, roadway work zones/traffic control, scaffolds, fall protection and construction equipment. I have completed a variety of pre/post OSHA safety and health courses as well as having trained/instructed for the same. Prior to working for OSHA, I was a designated Competent Person for excavations, scaffolds and fall protection. I have also initiated and/or performed a variety of safety outreach, compliance and technical assistance activities including OSHA partnership efforts in New Jersey and Idaho.

Michelle Steeler has been in the safety field for 16 years and currently works for the Risk Management Department of the URS Washington Division as a Substance Abuse Prevention Administrator, Return to Work Injury Counselor, and Safety Coordinator for the corporate office. As a part of the SAP Program she is also a Designated Employer Representative (DER) for the company. She is one of OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program's (VPP) Special Government Employees (SGEs) and is a Medic First Aid trainer for first aid, CPR, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens.

She is the current Delegate Representative for the Snake River Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). She has been a member for ten years and has served on the Board of Directors for 5 years and recently earned the chapter’s Safety Professional of the Year award.

Dan Stoddard

Dan Stoddard grew up in Pocatello working in the construction industry. He worked at his father’s concrete supply business after school and summers, learning to operate a forklift before learning to drive a car. For the last 10 years Dan has worked for Western States Equipment Co., an authorized Caterpillar dealer for 5 mountain states, where he is currently the rental coordinator for The Cat Rental Store in Pocatello. Dan has accomplished several hours of product and application training over the past 10 years with Western States and demonstrates a broad knowledge of construction equipment. Dan currently coordinates 271 pieces of equipment out of our Pocatello Branch and is responsible for all daily business transactions . He acts with professionalism and is highly respect amongst his team at Western States Equipment Company. Dan lives in Chubbuck with his wife Barbie; together they enjoy their 2 dogs, traveling and ATV riding.

For over 30 years Susie Vader has helped URS (and its predecessor companies) comply with ever-changing environmental, transportation, and safety regulations. Betty received a BS degree in Dietetics from Idaho State University and a Masters in Industrial Technology (Safety and Health Emphasis) from University of Idaho.  Keeping healthy and not having injuries is important to living a high quality active life.   She is currently working as the Illness and Injury Coordinator in Industrial Safety which includes experience and knowledge with workmen’s compensation, accident recording and reporting, working with the Physicians and Nurses in Occupational Medicine, and providing case management for work related injuries or illnesses.  She enjoys mountain bike riding, skiing, aerobics, golfing and eating healthy!

Greg Weatherby
CH-2-WGI Idaho Integrated Waste Treatment Unit (WTU) Project in Eastern Idaho

Greg is currently assigned to the CWI-WGI Integrated Waste Treatment Unit (IWTU) project in eastern Idaho. IWTU is a $500 Million nuclear waste treatment project that will remove and stabilized radioactive waste currently stored above the Snake River plain aquifer. Responsibilities include safety and health oversight of the project as well as assuring a seamless transition from the construction phase to the plant’s operational phase.>Greg has managed safety and health programs for rail transportation, government and private entities, and designed several products for the safety industry. His specialty areas include human performance in safety systems, event investigation, and cause analysis. He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Idaho with emphasis in the areas of Systems Engineering and Organizational Behavior.
